To make bricks, we need clay!

Being a natural material, no two clays are the same, and not all are suitable for brick making. Each clay has its own chemical make up, which contributes to the unique qualities and colour of the bricks produced.

Once quarried, the material is stockpiled to allow weathering and chemical decomposition to occur, therefore improving the condition of the clay before processing.

Stockpiling

Once the clay has weathered, it is transported back to our factory for storage in custom built sheds, protecting the clay from the elements prior to being processed.  Each brick type produced has a unique mix of clays, and our material controller will use quantities from specific stockpiles to ensure the correct blend.  Once the clay has been mixed, it is ready for production.
